The second stop of my busy weekend was the MNClubGP annual get-together, the Twin Cities Gathering. Yes, I am a member of this club. Anyway, the get-together was held at a lakeside park in Mendota Heights, near the MSP airport. It was just the right size for the club and the trees were a nice backdrop to the photos.

For those that don’t know, the Grand Prix (and similar W-body based GM cars including the Buick Regal and Chevy Monte Carlo/Impala and the Olds Intrigue) feature the bulletproof 3800 engine that on some models included an Eaton M90 supercharger. The M90 can push about 14 psi before losing efficiency, and gives off a nice blower whine sound.

Unfortunately, GM (in America) only bolted the supercharged versions to front-wheel drive cars, using a very very weak 4t60e transmission that can’t handle much more than 300hp built up.

All in all it was great fun, with a great barbeque and some ball-and-stick shenanigans at the end.
