Today, I went to the IGDA:TC monthly meetup where fellow sound designer Damian Kastbauer was re-presenting his discussion on footsteps from this year’s Game Developer’s Conference. The only thing more colorful than his excitement for the topic was his decidedly spring-y shirt! He presented a couple great videos of examples of different footsteps in a variety of games, from old NES and Atari games to much newer releases in a discussion of where footsteps began in video games and a look at where they are going. While not particularly vehicularly-oriented, the opportunity to meet up with local sound designers is good. (Hi to the couple of you I gave cards to!) I also met Carly from the MSP Audio Geeks group and plan to hit up their get-together in two weeks.
IGDATC will be posting a video of the entire presentation in the next week or so, so check back and I’ll be sure to have a link for it!
