First off, I want to say a big WOW! to how many people read part 1 with Nick! Over 500 of you in the first week! I’m told there will be mention of the interview in Turn 10′s Week In Review so look forward to that, and definitely look forward to a part 2 in ~2 weeks.
Second, GDC is very quickly approaching! I will be arriving in SF on Sunday afternoon and departing again Saturday at noon.
The highlight of the trip is Damian Kastbauer‘s presentation of the preliminary findings of our race car game sound study, which will be Thursday at 5:30pm in room 3004 (click to go to the GDC scheduling link). Be sure to add it to your calendar! If you like car sounds enough to read this blog, then you’ll love the presentation. Chances are high that other car audio fans will be there too, so I’m sure the after-session hang will be awesome. According to the GDC page, the presentation is being video recorded for availability on the Vault as well. Our formal findings will be published soon after GDC concludes, so stay tuned.
Also, Tuesday is the big Audio Boot Camp, and Mr. Caviezel will be speaking (albeit not talking about cars). I’ll be attending that seminar as I hear it’s more learning and meeting crammed into one day than you’ll ever find anywhere else ever.
Speaking of GDC, everyone wants to know where the parties are, so Damian has a calendar of audio-primary parties on his blog, and there is a much more broad party listing on Facebook so there’s no excuse not to meet up with a bunch of people. If you see a tall-ish guy with glasses and some form of racing shirt, chances are it’s me so say hi!
Lastly, I’ve added a calendar widget to the sidebar on the right side of the page, and it’s full of national racing events, car shows in the Minneapolis area, and other places I’m sure I’ll be. If you’re not sure what to do this weekend, just check it out. You can hover your mouse over any of the yellow boxes and it’ll tell you what’s going on. Race coverage subject to your tv provider and blah blah.
